Leaving Facebook For Good

I am done with Facebook for good on July 27th, 2013. It might seem strange that I would pick a day next year to unplug from the social network. Well, it happens to be the day I am getting married.

Before I even met my beautiful fiancée I had made a vow to myself and God that I would get off of Facebook and concentrate solely on this blog and twitter. All the more now, because I will have a wife, but I will also have a 7 year old Step-daughter, and God help me if I don't pass along the example that my incredible parents gave to me. It was a gift that I can give back.
So why Facebook? Over a third of all divorce papers contain the word Facebook according to a recent study. From the article:
Three years ago, 20 percent of divorce filings contained the word "Facebook." By 2011, it had risen to 33 percent, according to AAML. Despite the increase, the top Facebook mentions were the same: inappropriate messages to "friends" of the opposite sex, and cruel posts or comments between separated spouses. Sometimes, Facebook friends would tattle to one partner in a relationship about bad behavior by the other.
None of this surprises Ilana Gershon, an Indiana University professor and author of "The Breakup 2.0: Disconnecting Over New Media." For her book, Gershon interviewed 72 people from their late teens to their late 50s to discuss the role social media played in their breakups.
"It turns out a lot of my interviews revolved around Facebook," she told ABC News. "I feel quite thrilled when I get a Skype breakup or a text message story instead. Finally not Facebook," she joked.

I will not have my marriage end in a divorce. I did not wait until I was 34 only to turn around and become just another statistic. So, in order to have a healthy marriage and be able to eventually become one of those cute older couples you see at the park or the movies, what do you have to do?

1. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.  Matthew 6:33

2. Love your wife like Christ loves His church.

3. Remove all distractions that invite trouble. You can say to yourself, oh I would never flirt with anyone on Facebook or on MSN chat... It doesn't matter. Neither would I. But, you don't go looking for trouble, trouble is looking for you.. and it will find you. Marriage is about putting away the single life and embracing life together. If you remove the bumps in the road beforehand.. You give yourself much more of a fighting chance. I'm not asking my wife to remove her Facebook account. This is a personal decision that I have made.

I want to sacrifice.. It's the only thing that makes me really feel alive. I want to change more than just my status on July 27th, 2013.

Moderators Requested By The Obama Administration

I just learned that Obama had sent a list of acceptable moderators for any of the three debates. Here they are..

I think any of them would have been a fine choice!

Why I Am Voting For Mitt Romney

This should be pretty obvious if you know me or have read anything I have ever written. But it is important to note that Mitt Romney was never my guy. I was on team Herman Cain. And then I switched to Newt Gengrich. Somewhere towards the end I was in for Rick Santorum. To be honest Mitt Romney was my last choice, and still would not be my first choice. Nevertheless, here are a few of many reasons I WILL be pulling the switch for Romney.

* Obama's vision for America looks pretty much the same as the direction Western Europe took. That alone would be enough for me to chose Mitt over Barack. Look at the riots, look at how Islam is creeping into their countries with little for them to do about it. This is not the America my grandfather fought for.

* Romney is a conservative. He has some strange viewpoints that stray from true conservatism, however looking back I have yet to find one president in history that has stayed true to their conservative roots 100% once they got into office. Reagan came the closest but still had points he conceded too quickly on. Washington DC is an unpredictable place.

* Mormon Vs. God only knows. Believe it or not, this makes a big difference to me. What you believe behind closed doors will affect what happens to the American landscape. I am convinced that Obama is little more than a Theist, if even that. He's what you want him to be at any given moment... And I'd rather have someone who believes firmly in something I disagree with than have someone who just doesn't really care too much.

* Socialism is not sustainable. If you have a commune of 60 people you might just make socialism work for you. If you have a country of 300 million people who are used to being whatever they want, socialism will lead to anarchy, riots, death, and ultimately a police state.

* I hate Obamacare. Obamacare has nothing to do with health care. It is simply the mechanism he has chosen as the funnel that will lead to government dependency. Once they control your health decisions, they control you. I like Romney's plan of leading it up to the individual states.

* Romney is a business man. I like business men. I have never been employed by anyone who was simply existing on the government dole.

* I hate unions.

* I hate excessive taxation. I don't care if the person is rich or not. I have NO, ZERO, NONE, ZILCH envy of wealthy Americans. If you are rich, I hope you stay that way.. You owe me nothing. Congratulations! You  show me that it is possible to succeed! You should still pay the exact same tax rate that I do here in the lower middle class. Once you stop worrying about the car in your neighbor's driveway you free your mind to dream and follow your own potential.

The choice is so very clear to me.

Fun Facts

* Man,  If Obama had been my math teacher in elementary school.... "If I have 4 apples and give Billy 1 apple, How many apples do I have now? ANSWER: Guess what, I get all your apples I keep 3 for myself and I squeeze the other apple up, now you both get apple juice."

* The Vice Presidential debate is going to be hilarious. If I were Paul Ryan I would talk very little and just every once in a while look over at Biden when he gets done talking and just start laughing hysterically and pointing and then look up, calm himself down and say "Oh, you were serious?"

* Al Gore has ballooned up to 250 lbs. I believe he is purposefully trying to change the earth's rotation enough to make his global warming racket seem more believable.
